Meet Dr. Joseph Berenholz Michigan Center for Women’s Health

For the past 42 years, Dr. Joseph Berenholz has been a passionate supporter of women’s health and well-being. Over 25 years ago, he became Michigan’s first physician certified in the specialty of Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery. He trained with Dr. David Matlock of Beverly Hills, CA, before establishing Michigan’s first Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute, at a time when cosmetic gynecology was virtually unknown in the Midwest. Dr. Berenholz further refined his expertise by training with Dr. Red Alinsod, author of the seminal textbook Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery, in Laguna Beach, CA. Thanks to the influence of these pioneering figures, Dr. Berenholz has since performed close to 4,000 cosmetic gynecologic procedures, assisting countless women in achieving their aesthetic goals.

Pioneer in Electromagnetic Treatment of Incontinence

Dr. Berenholz, always an innovator, tested the first Emsella chair in the United States. He was asked by the BTL Corporation to perform a study on the effectiveness of the electromagnetic chair for the treatment of incontinence. 20 women with varying degrees of urge incontinence and stress urinary incontinence were selected for the study. It should be noted that the Emsella chair was FDA cleared.

Most recently, Dr. Berenholz has published the first paper in the world on the use of High Intensity Electromagnetic therapy for the treatment of urinary incontinence. (See http://emsellamichigan.com/).

Dr. Berenholz has been a pioneer in cosmetic gynecology for the Midwest United States and with mentors like doctors Red Alinsod, the inventor of ThermiVa and David Matlock, Dr. Berenholz has been able to spread the word of cosmetic gynecology and bring relief and solutions to thousands of women.

We are proud to announce the first internationally published research paper on Emsella for the treatment of incontinence in the journal of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. Dr Joseph Berenholz was one of the four principal investigators and the first to ever treat women for incontinence using Emsella in the United States. Dr. Berenholz has been treating women for incontinence for nearly 37 years!! He has been a pioneer in the treatment of female incontinence using High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Therapy. This Non-Invasive therapy has already enhanced the lives of hundreds of women. Thank you as well to the co-authors Dr. Julene Samuels, Dr. Red Alinsod, and Dr. Andrea Pezzella for their integral contributions and brilliant expertise. Finally, it would be negligent not to mention the very innovative researchers of the BTL Corporation from the Czech Republic. BTL’s dedication and commitment to women’s health can only be described as laudable. Over 90% of the women were extremely satisfied with the improvement in the quality of their lives using the electromagnetic chair. He has been asked by the BTL Corporation to be their official spokesperson for this technology. Dr Berenholz has already given a presentation to the entire sales force and corporate team of BTL in Sarasota, Florida earlier this month. Dr Berenholz will be conducting webinars to educate physicians throughout the United States on the technology and effectiveness of the electromagnetic chair for the treatment of incontinence. He has already begun to conduct a study on fecal incontinence a little-known problem of which many women suffer throughout the country.
